Warren Skidmore, TIO system scientist, participated in the second of three meetings on ELT Science in Light of JWST, a full week meeting in Sendai, Japan. He presented a poster on the Detailed Science Case development, science flowdown to requirements, traceability and key performance parameters.
On 19 March 2024, TIO and Coherent acknowledged the project鈥檚 achievement of the 100th polished roundel. TIO recognized this significant milestone by presenting Coherent with a commemorative banner. This accomplishment is the result of a collaborative effort of three organizations within TIO鈥檚 international partnership, dedicated to producing the mirror segments for TMT鈥檚 advanced primary mirror. In the United States, Coherent has polished 85 mirrors, while Canon in Japan has contributed 13 mirrors, and TMT India has added 2 mirrors to this ambitious project. The TMT team attended the Pasadena City College STEM Gala, on Friday 8 March 2024. The event was a success and aimed to promote connections and opportunities within the STEM community in Pasadena and southern California.
