The development, construction, and operation of the TMT Observatory will require a broad array of products and services from a wide spectrum of collaborators. The needs of the TMT Project will also evolve over its lifetime and its procurement needs will vary throughout its progress. This is why the TMT Project places a high value on its relationships with both public and private suppliers that not only fuel our day-to-day operations but also our specialized technical demands. If your organization is interested in being part of the TMT’s global network of suppliers, then please click on the button below to complete the sign up form. The TMT Project will use the provided information to inform our managers, technical teams, and collaborators about your products and/or services. The TMT Project will also record your information in its electronic database for future reference.
The TMT Project itself will not directly select the construction service providers for our observatory. The construction workers and service providers building the TMT Observatory will come from contractors who are independent construction firms that perform certain portions of the construction work. The contractors will be selected through planned procurement efforts governed by TMT’s policies and procedures. TMT is not involved in the actual hiring of individual construction workers or retaining the specific construction equipment/services. The hiring of construction workers, service providers and equipment shall largely be managed by the selected contractors themselves.
However, it is important to note that for construction services, TMT is committed to engaging unionized labor for its construction activity. If the construction services you provide are normally considered a union job, it is highly likely that the construction workers hired for that work by our contractors will be part of a labor union.
The TMT Project is an international endeavor to build and operate the most advanced and powerful optical telescope on Earth. To meet its goals, the TMT Project works with an extensive network of organizations to support a broad range of activities.
