Pasadena Students in Caltech's Planet Finder Academy Hold Workshop at TMT Lab

Nineteen Caltech Planet Finder Academy high school students from across the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) recently visited the TMT Lab in Monrovia. TMT System Scientist Warren Skidmore welcomed the group and ran a special workshop for the students.

2022 AstroDay West Hawaiʻi

AstroDay 2022, led by the University of Hawai‘i’s Institute for Astronomy (IfA), is dedicated to sharing the amazing science of astronomy and the incredible discoveries made by telescopes throughout the state of Hawaiʻi. AstroDay continues to be a leading community outreach program for the observatories. This time around, the AstroDay celebration event was back “in-person,” with its share of free, family-friendly astronomy activities.

TMT Sponsors $50,000 for Online STEM Learning Program in Hawaii

Unfortunately, thousands of students across Hawaii will be out of school for the next several months due to the coronavirus crisis. With parents taking on a larger teaching role to make sure their kids continue to learn and grow while sequestered at home, the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) project has awarded a $50,000 grant to the Hilo-based Hawaii Science and Technology Museum to fund its innovative online STEM learning program.
